Scientist I Analytical Development

Coastar Therapeutics is seeking a highly-motivated scientist with assay development expertise to join the analytical development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing analytical methods in support of the biological membrane coated virus development. Operating in a cross-functional and dynamic environment, the individual will work closely with Product Development and Process Development teams. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of developing, implementing, and transferring QC-suitable analytical testing methods that are compliant with regulatory requirements. This is a full-time position reporting to the CSO and is located at our corporate headquarter in San Diego.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all functions to support bioassay development and assay qualification with exemplary documentation practices
  • Perform established in-process control and release assays to support pilot process development
  • Detailed record keeping, data interpretation, and presentation to functional and project teams
  • Ordering and maintaining stocks of lab reagents and samples

 

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. degree with 3~5 years relevant experience in a related field
  • Prior experience with designing and developing cellular/enzyme-based assays is preferred
  • Working knowledge of statistical and analytical tools
  • Prior experience with bioassay / bioanalytical development is strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication, time management, record keeping, presentation, and data analysis skills
  • The ability to successfully pursue an individual research project and take direction in a group environment

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Will require working with blood, tissues, and cell lines of human and animal origin
  • On-site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
  • Occasional travelling will be required (<10%)
